Meet Lavier And Ouray. Some goals and a little about why I love to garden so much. This is a short video about Lavier Kurtz and what inspired him to continue to do gardening. A few goals he would like to achieve in the up coming years. Also meet his garden helper Ouray, he's a beautiful Blue Merle Australian Shepherd. He sure does love to watch me do all the work in the garden. Not to mention he loves to eat the fresh organic veggies.
Down under in the garden, beneath the tall plants and the praying mantis. A tour done on the garden floor with the bugs, squash, Mr.Stripey tomato, sweet peas, sugar snap peas, better bush tomato, Roma tomato, hummingbird, praying mantis.
In this video we're going to focus on lettuce (with help from my Australian Shepherd Ouray)! I planted some red salad bowl lettuce in my garden here in Mesa, Arizona and now I'm letting it go to seed.
I will show you how I use taller plants, like tomatoes and even a Jacaranda tree to protect my lettuce in heat of spring in the desert garden.
I have the red salad bowl lettuce seeds available for $2 at https://laviersurbangarden.com/shop?olsPage=products%2Fred-salad-bowl-lettuce
I let my garden go to seed every year and the birds absolutely love it! My sunflower seeds are a favorite! Finches seemed to enjoy the lettuce seeds! The lovebirds always seem to know when the sunflower's are ready to eat.
So many wonderful foods can grow here in Arizona! In this video I show that I have grown beans, lettuce, broccoli, romaine lettuce, eggplant, beefsteak tomatoes, basil, peas, oak leaf lettuce, jalapenos, Romano tomato, spinach, carrots, radishes and celery.
Take a walk with me around the urban garden to see what we have growing.
In today's video we're going to focus on the Polarstar Hollyhock. I planted this plant about six months ago, you can check out my blog post about growing this Hollyhock here: https://laviersurbangarden.com/blog/f/growing-hollyhock-polarstar
Today we're going to gather some seeds from our beautiful hollyhock! Let me show you how I do it!
This plant was bred and introduced in Germany by Jelitto Seeds. This company has been around since 1957! Check them out for yourself!
This video is on saving tomato seeds! This year we had birds all over our garden, but I was able to save some tomato seeds despite that!
First we ferment the seeds in water, then we spread them on wax paper to dry.
I work hard and put a lot of time into saving these seeds for you. Hand done, hand picked, and organic! Not only that, but the seeds you get will be clean and ready to plant when their season comes!
I also show you a little tour of my garden room.
I'm so proud to show you these tomatoes! I have Romano and solar flare tomatoes, and they are huge! My tomatoes are starting to ripen as the Arizona desert offers more sun!
My peas are looking great!
Onions and lettuce are heavily seeding, but we are almost done with the spring garden. Summer is here and the summer garden is looking great!
My hollyhock seeds are almost all harvested, and I have so many!
It's the end of the spring gardening season here in the desert of Arizona! Now is the time to save your seeds!
We have yellow pear tomatoes, red cherry tomatoes, marigolds, jalapeno, hollyhocks, onions and red salad bowl lettuce. We're about to clear out the spring garden, and our summer garden is already planted!
We've had a great season for tomatoes and peppers this year!
One of my better video's and funny as well. We started planting pumpkins here in Arizona on July 2nd, but I had to replant them three times! The birds kept eating the pumpkin seeds and sprouts! We finally got some sticking seeds in the ground on July 4th. I'll also be growing gourds!
We ended up having to place nets over my pumpkin patch to protect my plants from the birds, but don't worry the birds are safe! We moved out trellis and on July 15th we see some beautiful and hardy sprouts!
We hope you are having a Great day!!!
